Unagel© has been several years in development and testing. Conventional dermatology practice has taught us that acids typically work best in low pH environments. This is especially true with alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs). However, we discovered that you can raise the pH of salicylic acid, a beta hydroxy acid (BHA), to match the pH of skin without compromising performance of the active ingredient. The result is a low irritation profile for our Unagel formulation.
In acne, salicylic acid helps facilitate the shedding of the cells inside the follicles, preventing sebaceus gland from clogging. Salicylic acid also works to break down blackheads and whiteheads. This is done by softening the keratin, a protein that forms part of the skin structure.
Unagel also incorporates carefully selected botanicals that help calm the inflammation created by acne lesions.
There are several third party independent clinical studies that support our assertions. If you would like more detailed information, please down load our Unagel Technical Paper. You must have Adobe Reader installed on your computer to properly view the file.
We have several clinical studies in process and we will update this page as we receive more results.
Our first patient shown below was seen in the office by a dermatologist. Initial photos were taken during the visit. However, this patient did not start applying Unagel until a week later. Therefore, as evidenced by the time stamp on the photo, this patient achieved significant reduction in blackheads and acne lesions after one week of use.
